FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about requesting help in Eden Prairie and the southwest metro.

How long does a board-up last?
It is a temporary measure. A properly fitted board-up will hold through normal weather for weeks, and a tarp somewhat less, particularly through winter wind. It buys time to arrange permanent repair — it is not a substitute for it.
Will boarding up affect my insurance claim?
Most policies expect a property owner to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage. Securing the building is generally that step. Photograph the damage before the board-up goes on. Coverage decisions are made by your carrier.
Can you tarp a roof in winter?
It depends on the roof, the pitch, the ice, and the weather at the time. Some roofs cannot be safely accessed in certain conditions, and a provider will say so rather than put someone on them.
Do you do the permanent repair afterwards?
No. We only secure. That keeps the scope of the securing job honest.
What if the police are still on site after a break-in?
Say so when you call. Securing generally waits until the scene is released, and a coordinator will work around that rather than send someone who cannot start.
Can you secure a vacant or commercial building?
Yes. Vacant property, units between tenants, and commercial premises are a regular part of the work, including recurring securing on buildings that keep getting opened.
What areas do you cover?
Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Chanhassen, Chaska, Bloomington, Edina, Shakopee and the surrounding southwest metro. Coverage for a specific address depends on availability.
Are you the company that does the work?
No. Eden Prairie Board Up is a lead-intake and service-request platform. A separate local provider performs any accepted work and confirms scope and terms.
Does submitting a request guarantee someone will come?
No. Submitting a request does not guarantee that a provider will accept the project or arrive within a specific timeframe.
How quickly should I get a building secured?
As soon as it is safe to do so, particularly in freezing conditions or with rain forecast. An open building deteriorates on a timescale of hours, not days.

Property open right now?

Tell us what is open and where. A coordinator can review the request against the type of opening and what securing capacity looks like right now.
